1 | 3-Phase Induction Motor | 1.0 kW, 1440 rpm, 415 V, 3-phase, 50 Hz, 4-pole, squirrel-cage Induction Motor | An easy and simple procedure was proposed for designing a 3-phase induction motor, which can be very useful for designing the 3-phase induction motor in small scale industries (SSI), specifically in India, where the SSIs have limited resources to hire the good design engineers and experts. Therefore, in order to validate the effectiveness of this procedure, the above motor was designed and developed in the Electrical Machines Lab using the proposed approach by the following students in their Final Year Project. The different tests were conducted on the motor; and performance curves were plotted, that gave results perfectly commensurate with that of design. | Mayur Sharma Abhishek Mayank Sharma Deepansh Jatin Jha |
2 | Linear Induction Motor (LIM) | 0.5 kW, 4-pole, 440 V, 3-phase, 50 Hz LIM | A prototype of the above mentioned linear induction motor was developed by the Final Year students of B. Tech. (EEE) in their project work in the Electrical Machines Lab. However, the prototype is not given the commercial shape because of some limitations. But, the prototype demonstrates its working operation perfectly. In fact, the conductive metallic path of a LIM normally remains stationary and works as its rotor. Therefore, the LIM stator moves on this path. In the research laboratories, it is developed like a circular path. But, our laboratory presently has not such a path. Therefore, we developed a rectangular peace of Aluminium plate for its rotor, that perfectly moves linearly over the stator throughout the length of LIM. As regarding the stator, its stampings were developed by using the E-shape stampings of transformer, in which the stator winding coils were inserted. The motor power measured was found to be 0.560 kW. | Manu Sharma Varun Sharma Tushar Sharna Md. Shaiffullah Saurabh Raj Nawaria Abhijit Kumar |
